Adult-focused BJJ in a private gym. Small classes, structured coaching, zero ego. Pay as you go.
“There are no pressure or egos, and it’s a safe place to train if one intends to practice BJJ for a long period.”— Johann M., Business Owner
Most gyms are built around competition. The training is designed for younger athletes preparing for tournaments — and that makes sense for them. But if you’re a working professional in your 40s or 50s looking for something structured, safe, and actually sustainable, you’ve probably already noticed that most of what’s out there wasn’t designed with you in mind.
It should be different. Training should make your body more capable and your mind sharper — not leave you wondering if you’ll get hurt or feel out of place. That’s not a high bar. But most places aren’t set up to clear it.
45 years in martial arts. 30 years running a gym. BJJ is what I teach now because nothing else tests your thinking and your body the same way. VCBJJ is where I put everything I’ve learned — built for adults who want real training that respects their time and their body.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art focused on control, leverage, and problem-solving. There are no strikes. Instead, you learn to manage distance, control positions, and apply submissions using technique rather than strength.
It’s often described as “human chess” — a thinking person’s martial art. At VCBJJ, we teach it as a functional skill: something you learn to use under pressure, not just perform in a drill. Most of our students had zero martial arts experience before starting.
